Washington County court takes new tack on mental illness
Judge Marco Hernandez is speaking casually to a young man wearing jeans, a dress shirt and a tie. “You look nice today,†Hernandez says.
“I thought I’d come dressed decent for a change,†he replies.
If Hernandez weren’t wearing a robe and sitting behind a courtroom bench in a Portland suburb, you wouldn’t know that there was a hearing going on.
