Nearly 30 years later, three students return to design Oregon’s new alumni center
When the East Coast was sizzling with the newest fads in architecture in the 1970s, the West Coast, and specifically Oregon, became the first place to experiment with concepts such as solar energy and energy efficiency. Around that time, three students entered the University of Oregon to study architecture. While attending the university, Alec Holser, Jim Kalvelage and James Meyer immersed themselves in the craft. They spent countless hours in the schools studios, deliberately forgoing college parties so they could sharpen their skills. (Portland Business Journal, April 2010)
